Happy Release Day, Very Merry Dress!

We are celebrating both the first joint post on the Show and Tell Project and a new Peek-a-Boo Pattern Shop pattern release today!

Emily and I have been collaborating behind the scenes and brainstorming future Show and Tell Project posts. The Show and Tell Project team is so excited to introduce her and her beautiful sewing to our readers today!

Today is Thrifty Thursday at The Peek-a-Boo Pattern Shop. Emily and I were each selected to test the newly-released and on sale today only (11/5) Very Merry Dress.

Although this dress can easily be dressed down with fun cottons and corduroys, Emily and I were both selected to test “party” variations of the dress.

I made mine in turquoise taffeta that I’ve had in my stash for a few years. Instead of the optional pintucked sash, I made sure that my bodice fit my daughter well, and used beaded trim at the waist for an upscale tween look. For this pattern, you will want to make sure that you pay attention to the size chart for a good fit.

I wanted to challenge myself a bit, so I made sure to follow the instructions to make four rows of pintucks. If you have never done pintucks before, don’t be scared. As expected in a PAB pattern, the tutorial is very clear. If you want to leave the pintucks off, the tutorial instructs you to cut the skirt shorter.

Emily had a stunning take on the Very Merry Dress in a size 6 for her sweet little girl.

Emily WM 3Emily selected gorgeous eggplant satin for the bodice and skirt. Because her skirt is covered by the overlay, she skipped the pintucks on the bottom of the skirt.

Emily WM 2She used a silver lace to overlay the skirt and matching silver satin for the sash. If you look closely, you can see that she basted the lace to the satin, and then formed the pleats per the tutorial.

Emily also included the pintucked sash option (instructions included in the pattern tutorial) on her dress. I love how striking the silver is against the eggplant satin.

Emily WMThe Show and Tell Project is so happy to introduce Emily and her exquisite sewing to our readers today! Welcome, Emily!
